Predictive Full Game Changes for Dofus 3.1

The coveted « Operation Consolidation » Update has been released on April 22nd, 2025. Let’s break down its changes on BETA and make up a little full game change patchnotes.

PERFORMANCE

  • Changes have been made to improve game performance:
  • Several interfaces have been reworked to optimize the most resource-intensive displays. Some changes are purely technical and don’t impact functionality, while others were reworked in more depth and their functionality has been adjusted accordingly:
    • Spell interface: performance upgrade.
    • Achievements: removal of drop-down lists and addition of a panel showing achievement details and rewards (see « Interface Changes & Bugfixes » for more details).
    • Settings: removal of drop-down lists.
    • Professions: improved performance and updated display.
    • Encyclopedia: performance upgrade.
    • Bestiary: removal of drop-down lists, and addition of monster characters on mouse-over (see « Interface Changes & Bugfixes » for more information).
    • Chat: performance upgrade (see « Interface Changes & Bugfixes » for more information).
  • Entity atlas optimization (monsters, NPCs, spell effects).
  • Update size.
    • Optimizations have been made to how the client is organized to reduce the size of weekly updates in the Launcher.
    • However, because of the shift from Unity 5 to Unity 6, the size of update 3.1 in the Launcher will, unfortunately, be considerable.

IMPROVING GAME FLOW

  • Several changes have been made to ease certain blockages and bottlenecks:
  • Groups of monsters in dungeons now reappear immediately after players have started fights. This change will also end issues with traffic jams in dungeons.
  • Outside of dungeons, groups of monsters that haven’t been attacked for approximately one hour are now regenerated.
    • This regeneration only happens if no players are located on the current map.
    • This regeneration does not happen for groups containing wanted notices/archmonsters.
  • Outside of dungeons, monster spawn speed now adapts in real time: The fever groups of monsters there are in the game, the more the spawn time speeds up (going up to a spawn time that is two times faster when there are less than 20% of monsters in the zone).
  • The appearance of certain special monsters (for ex., Foxo the Crowfox in the Lord Crow’s Library area) is now faster.
  • Special monsters have been removed from monster achievements (GM Wabbit, Dark Vlad Dopple, Sewer Keeper).
  • It is now possible to talk to NPCs to find out if the Wanted Notice has reappeared or not:
    • Frigost 1 Wanted Notices: Peter S. Hilton
    • Frigost 2 Wanted Notices: Baka Laive / Long John
    • Frigost 3 Wanted Notices: Wes of Tubsterville
    • Wanted Alignment Notices: Fairy Valentine, Lobo Tommy
    • Wanted Dimensional Notices: the Colonel’s Krosmoglob
    • Ohwymi Wanted Notices: Talky Walker
    • Sufokia Wanted Notices: Walter Worde
    • Amakna Wanted Notices: Maeve Lightdance
    • Astrub Wanted Notices: Astrub Jail Guard
    • Vigilante Base Wanted Notices: Cold Turnkey
  • The frequency at which Wanted Notices / Archmonsters appear has been standardized and reduced.
  • Changes have been made in the cities of Sufokia, Pandala and Frigost to improve equality in relation to Bonta and Brakmar, whether in terms of available commodities or simplicity of use.
    • Commodities:
    • Only Bonta and Brakmar had creature marketplaces. There was the same issue with the cosmetic marketplaces, available only in those two cities and Astrub. We’ve made sure that players can find all the marketplaces in each of the cities. For the creature marketplaces, a new one has also been added in Astrub.
    • Workshops, for their part, were already better spread out. We have just added the ones that were missing in Pandala (carvers’ and jewelers’ workshops).
    • Navigation changes have been made to improve flow:
    • Sofukia: Ending up in a dead end or having to go around several maps to move about the city were common occurrences. Now, every workshop is accessible from all the adjacent maps. An extra zaapi – « Adventure Quay » – has also been added between the various ships headed to Brakmar, Otomai, and the Alliance Temple. The shoemakers’ workshop has been moved near the Merchant Quay, leaving room for the cosmetics marketplace.
    • Pandala: A new map has been added between the Pandala Bridge exit and the Akwadala rice paddies. A jewelers’ workshop and the cosmetics marketplace has been added to this map. A boat has also been added to travel directly to the fishermen’s workshop located in the south of Akwadala.
    • Frigost: Frigost Village and the Permafrost Port are big enough to welcome a large number of purchasable houses, but this also contributes to scattering various workshops and marketplaces. We therefore decided to add two extra zaapis and to move others (slightly) to spread out their locations better. Since Frigost has the « ski » feature, it wasn’t necessary to add more methods of transportation to outside Frigost Village. However, a new gate in the surrounding wall has been added east of the zaap to get to the cemetery more easily.
    • Public paddocks have not been changed, but changes will be made during the breeding overhaul in next September’s update.
  • To facilitate travel in the World of Twelve and avoid long, unnecessary and/or annoying trajectories, several changes have been made:
    • Three new zaaps have been added (in the Mount Tombs, Nimaltopia and Primitive Cemetery areas).
    • Access has been opened:
    • between the Primitive Cemetery and the devastated village of Gisgoul (one way)
    • between the Primitive Cemetery and the Desecrated Highlands to the south (one way)
    • between Dopple Village and Cania Bay to the north (both directions)
    • in the Wild Canyon (to get to the Agony V’Helley area more easily)
    • Global pre-sentience is now usable in the following areas:
    • Wabbit Islands
    • Wild Canyon
    • Agony V’Helley
    • Lord Crow’s Library
    • Haven bags can now be accessed on Wabbit Island.
    • Global pre-sentience can now use the inter-island transportation methods available from NPCs. Warning: It will automatically deduct the amount of kamas requested by the NPC.
    • Satanass now offers his services to trace a rapid route in the Sidimote Moors (rapid transport method that can travel the Sidimote Moors more quickly).
    • The NPC Admiral Traflagar lets you take the boat from Madrestam Harbour to Bonta and from Bonta to Frigost. These two routes are conditional on the exploration achievements for the ports in Bonta and Frigost.
    • The NPC Han Loader lets you take the boat from Madrestam Harbour to Brakmar. This route is conditional on the exploration achievement for the port in Brakmar.
  • World Map: to improve clarity of navigation, specific world maps have been added for the following areas:
    • Sunktuary
    • Fungus Cavern
    • Indicators have also been added to the map to show entrances/exits.
  • Global pre-sentience sometimes got stuck on certain maps (e.g., Albuera square, leaving Forfut village, etc.). This issue has now been fixed.
  • Certain map animations have been fixed.
  • Some of the scenery on combat maps has been changed to better match the surrounding area.
  • On the world map, certain emote icons were missing (Rest, Applaud, Hi, Sneeze, etc.). This issue has now been fixed.
  • The visual effect on the Koolich Infinite Dreams map has been removed.
  • It is no longer possible to place a Perceptor in the Terredala smiths’ workshop.
  • Certain icons that showed poorly in HD/4K have been fixed (e.g. breeders’ zaap).

    • To the Petrified Forest
    • To the Fangs of Glass
    • Exits on the new Astrub sewers map
    • Elevators in the new Abyss map

COMBAT

  • Spell Bar
    • The cooldown period of certain spells was poorly managed (spell grayed out when it is supposed to be available for casting or vice-versa). This issue has now been fixed.
    • In some cases, players would keep the spells of a controlled entity from one fight to the next (e.g. Kabaal’s arm). This issue has now been fixed.
    • When a controllable/biddable creature is summoned, its summons module (with spells) now displays properly.
  • Turn Time
    • Bonus time is added based on the player’s level – 1 bonus second per 20-level threshold (for ex., level 72 = 3 extra seconds, and level 200 = 10 extra seconds).
    • Turn time calculations can be summarized as follows:
    • Base time is 15 seconds (no change).
    • A time bonus from one turn to the next matching half the remaining time from the previous turn (no change).
    • A bonus based on AP/MP at the start of the turn: 1 sec./AP and 1 sec./MP (no change).
    • Bonus time based on the player’s level: 1 sec. / 20 levels (new).
    • The max time possible per turn is 60 sec. (no change).

    • Consumables that provide statistics (initiative, prospecting, wisdom, vitality, agility, strength, chance, intelligence, critical, damage, AP, heals, etc.) can now be used during the preparation phase.
    • The popup menu displayed when clicking on any character’s nickname (in the chat or elsewhere) incorrectly showed the « Kick » and « Switch places » options. This issue has now been fixed.

  • Challenges
    • « Kill on Sight »: The challenge description has been changed to exclude summons.

    • « Barbaric »: The challenge now fails properly when the monster is killed by a Sacrier health steal spell.
    • « Nomad »: The description has changed to indicate that a partial dodge (that only causes AP to be lost) makes the challenge fail.
  • Tooltips/Information Interface Shown When Hovering Over a Character in Combat
    • In some cases, it was necessary to hover over a watch several times to show its tooltip (name and HP). This issue has now been fixed.
    • Right-clicking on an entity in combat now brings up a popup menu with the options « See Bewitchments » and « Pin Fighter Info. »
    • The % of neutral resistances is now properly limited to 50%.
    • In some cases, the tooltip did not disappear (when the player switched from casting a spell from the timeline to a classic casting). This issue has now been fixed.

    • The tooltip text on hover has been changed.
    • The confirmation pop-up has been removed.

  • Timeline
    • The Gladiatrool combat timeline works properly again.
    • Disabling the « Show fighters’ order » option in combat now properly removes the numbers from entities in the timeline.
  • Previews
    • The player preview now properly takes into account the new damage trophies implemented in the game in 3.0 (e.g., Arcanist).
    • In group combat, with the « display possible movement area » option, the character’s movement area would sometimes display even when it was not their turn to play. This issue has now been fixed.
    • When teleporting in combat, if the player quickly clicked on a second spell while they were still teleporting, the spell preview considered the player to still be in their previous position. This issue has now been fixed.
  • States
    • When a monster had a state (A) and obtained that same state again (B), then, when it lost state A, the state completely disappeared even though the monster still had it (B). This issue has now been fixed.
    • The spells that remove enchantments (e.g., the Crobak’s « Destabilising Cry ») did not visually remove the enchantments (they were still displayed as present). This issue has now been fixed.
  • When a fight is started on a map, the other players who hover over the hammer to see the list of monsters now see the correct list of monsters.
  • The « Kanig Barbarism » legendary power now works correctly.

ITEMS

  • Almost all equipment recipes have been changed:
    • The required amounts of pebbles in recipes have been lowered.
    • With this change, in exchange, the recipes of all equipment must be adjusted to:
    • Better distribute the demand for pebbles.
      • Only 1 items in a set of 3 pieces of equipment or more will ask for pebbles.
    • Better distribute the other resources connected to other activities (tourmaline, dimensional fabric, mysterious fabric, ambergris, nugget, rhineetle horn).
    • Include a resource from another activity in recipes: anomaly fragments.
    • Better distribute resources from other activities within sets.
    • Revise the quantities of resources requested in all level bands, upwards or downwards, to better match the level band in question and the resource drop rates, obtention and generation.
    • Correct the anomalies in certain recipes, such as resources whose levels are much too high or too low compared to the level of the item (except in exceptional cases).
    • With these modifications, the gain bonuses for kolossokens on the pioneer servers will be removed on the day of the update.
  • Change to soul stones:
    • The Wood / Wind / Fire / Water / Rock Pandawushu Artefact can no longer be obtained from monsters outside Pandala.
    • A new craftable item (level 100 miner), « Pandawushu Artefact », has been added to the game. It requires a Pandawushu artifact of every element.
    • This new item has been added to Pandala equipment recipes.
    • Five new items have been added to the game. Please note that these items do not appear in the bestiary, but they can be earned as a drop from all monsters based on their level group:
    • Inferior Soul Splinter: level 1 to 50, 1 to 4% drop rate
    • Ordinary Soul Splinter: level 51 to 100, 1 to 4% drop rate
    • Superior Soul Splinter: level 101 to 150, 1 to 4% drop rate
    • Majestic Soul Splinter: level 151 to 190, 1 to 4% drop rate
    • Supreme Soul Splinter: level 191 to 200, 4% drop rate
    • Soul Splinter obtention is individual.
    • The recipes for soul stones have been modified.
    • Small: x10 Inferior Soul Splinter + x1 Oilbow Grease

  • Technical changes have been made to weapon damage for easier management in the future. In connection with these changes, several corrections have been made:
    • In the weapon tooltips, the order of smithmagiced weapon damage ranges would sometimes change when changing a strike element. This issue has now been fixed.
    • In weapon tooltips, damage ranges that had changed element were not shown in blue (exotic smithmagic). This issue has now been fixed.
    • In weapon tooltips, certain special pushback/attraction effects were sometimes poorly shown on weapons (for example: Mama Ayuto’s Rolling Pin). This issue has now been fixed.
    • 68% efficiency element changes have been removed. Weapons with this efficiency have automatically been changed to 85%.
    • The rounding was wrong and didn’t really match the announced effectiveness of potions/engravings, which sometimes caused a loss of 1 or 2 damage for the entire range. This issue has been fixed.
    • Example: Peccadillo Blade
      • Neutral damage line: 21-30.
      • With a current potion of 85%, the line became 18-25. Outside of 30×0.85=25.5 the rounding should have been 26.
      • After the update, the range will therefore be 18-26.

CLASS BALANCING

  • A new update means balancing! Here are the points we worked on to improve and clean up the classes:

  • Reduction of some heal and/or shield stacking that was too powerful.
  • Some damage buffs and nerfs.
  • New adjustments for low levels.
  • New interactions between certain classes.
  • Tons of diverse improvements.

FORGELANCE

  • For Forgelances, a first important point was to nerf the areas of effect and pushback damage at low level. More generally, we have lowered the range of area-of-effect ranged spells, with or without line of sight, which were problematic in all game modes.
  • Another important nerf, the Epilogue, which made it too easy to block a passage, heal with a weapon, and recover without a Lance without any constraints despite the new passive that increases Power.
  • Burning Estoc
    • Pushback: 3 cells → 2 / 2 / 3 cells
    • The area of effect has been changed to a 1-cell Cone at rank 1.
  • Lance of the Lake

ELIOTROPE

  • With the last update, we had decided to lower the power of Eliotrope Portals by reducing the base damage bonuses and those per cell of distance.
  • This nerf was necessary for PvM balance, especially in the context of a server opening. However, while the nerve has had the desired effect in this area, it was too violent for Eliotropes themselves, as we lacked the tools and effects needed to distinguish between the use of portals by Eliotropes or by their allies.
  • We finally have access to these tools to be more precise with class balancing, and we took the opportunity to modify the entire spell kit. While elemental spells changed very little, utility spells, on the other hand, have undergone considerable transformations! New effects and mechanics have been added, unlocking numerous combos and interactions. The addition of a passive and the numerous modifications made to portals will let the class regain its lost damage while offering new ways to play the class.

    • Uses per turn : 4 -> 3
    • Bonus per cell of distance: 1% → 2%
    • We decide to change the range of the Flexible Portal in order to justify better evolution of damage based on portal distance. Here, we have a portal that offers a base increase in damage and heals but with a smaller evolution of the bonus per cell of distance, and a portal that provides no base bonus but evolves much better based on distance.
